Day 9 Sibenik

Հրատարակվել է: 14.08.2018

In the morning, a larger city was still on our long to-do list. Sibenik, with its 46,332 inhabitants on the Adriatic coast, was so noticeable in our preliminary research that it had to be visited. However, this was not because it is the sister city of Kreis Herford.

This time we left Kastela heading north. Actually, we wanted to make an effort to be there before the heat of the day, but it takes some time until two children and two adults are ready...

We bypassed the toll motorway for the journey, which took a little over an hour. Instead, we got to enjoy an interesting view of rocky cliffs, dry vegetation, and shimmering blue sea...

Sibenik is located not far from the mouth of the Krka River into the Adriatic, at a naturally protected harbor that enters the sea through a 2.5 km long, natural canal-like breakthrough. Upon entering the city, we first saw some high-rise buildings. The traffic was quite heavy as well. At the small ferry port, the parking lot was full again. We were instructed to park in the disabled parking space.

We walked along the water in scorching heat, and after about 10 minutes, we had a clear view of the city skyline.

Before I desperately try to describe the appearance of the city, I'd rather refer to the numerous photos.

Personally, I really liked Sibenik, even though it was really hot on that day and we had to cut our visit short after just over two hours. Carrying the buggy up some stairs also took extra effort.

Oh, and Sibenik still owed me a truly atmospheric fishing harbor... you can't have it all.
