And everything started in Thailand...

Tshaj tawm: 15.02.2018

As the headline already says, everything started in Thailand. Well, maybe not literally EVERYTHING but at least my travel addiction ;) During this trip, I became aware for the first time that there are such wonderful places on this earth. And they are just waiting to be discovered by me! I wanted more, I was hooked. But it all started so innocently...

Off to the travel agency!

We booked the trip through a travel agency. Yes, a package deal! And I am still glad about it, because without the nice lady from the travel agency, we probably would not even have come to Thailand. Or at least not to Khao Lak. Because the woman at the travel agency had been there several times with her husband, she recommended it to us directly. Her description sounded good, so we trusted her and booked 2 weeks including breakfast in Khao Lak. We should not regret it!

Funny fact: The woman at the travel agency has the same birthday as Luke, while her husband has the same birthday as me. Coincidences happen!

Thailand: The First One

So on October 17, 2014, we went to Thailand for the first time. We had the pleasure of flying from Frankfurt to Phuket with Singapore Airlines via Singapore. And with this airline, the vacation actually starts in the airplane! Apart from the fact that this was our first flight with an A380 and we were excited about the size, the service and everything else was simply first class! There was food and drink available around the clock. I believe that I have never been so well-fed on a flight before or after! The entertainment system was great, we watched a lot of movies on the 12-hour flight to Singapore. The legroom was finally suitable for taller people. For Luke, who is 6'2" tall, it was quite luxurious. Then all the things you received for the flight: a pillow, a blanket, a toothbrush and toothpaste, socks... we were thrilled! :D In summary, a very pleasant flight. However, to my dismay, I had to realize that I can't sleep on the plane at all... not very advantageous for a long-haul flight.

Singapore

Nevertheless, we eventually arrived in Singapore. Unfortunately, our stay there was not enough to explore the largest airport in the world in more detail. But we will definitely make up for it someday! Now we just had to find the gate. After that, we could see more. However, time passed so quickly that our connecting flight to Phuket was already waiting for us.

Phuket

Now paradise was not far away anymore. Only a two-hour flight separated us from our destination. When the plane started to descend and the first islands came into sight, all fatigue was immediately forgotten.

After landing in Phuket, the first thing we had to do was queue up. With the tourist visa already filled out on the plane, we waited to be allowed to enter. Once this hurdle was cleared, we just had to wait for our luggage and off we went! As soon as we left the air-conditioned hall of the airport, a wall of hot, humid air hit us directly. Me, being in the tropics for the first time, of course I expected that the climate would be 'different' than in Germany, but I didn't expect something so extreme. I started sweating immediately! Fortunately, our driver was waiting for us and took us - as his only passengers - to our hotel in Khao Lak.

The journey could begin!
