After 2 hours of flight time, the sea of lights below grew larger, endless long illuminated streets and the first skyscrapers crystallized as 3D silhouettes. We made another long loop and landed at around 2 o'clock at night at 'Suvarnabhumi International Airport' on the outskirts of Bangkok. Wow, one should always plan to land here at night, a relaxed atmosphere and no queue at the check-in counter, the immigration stamp in my passport was done in 2 minutes. Then the baggage conveyor belt, the first suitcases, my backpack was not there, the next batch, still no sign of my backpack. Now the display says 'Last Package' ... hoping, praying, did something go wrong this time? Then it came almost at the end, relief. Proceed to the ATM to withdraw money and then check the SIM card. Here you have the choice between three providers, each one better than the other. I chose the familiar 'DTAC', it took a minute and then the card was in my smartphone and I was online. Outside to the taxi counter, order has been restored here as well, my taxi driver was assigned to me quickly and after 5 minutes I reached my small hotel for the next few hours, to arrive and get some sleep. A smile when I saw the Wi-Fi password - Powerpuffgirl, oops where did I land. All good, I had a peaceful sleep.
Bangkok - Chatuchak Weekend Market
In the morning, I took a taxi to the BTS SkyTrain, not even 5 minutes in the taxi and I was already offered various suggestions, Bum Bum in Pattaya and marijuana for 500 baht ... I took the BTS SkyTrain to Paya Thai and after 9 stations I reached my stop, but the bus for the onward journey was not in sight, so I decided to have my first bowl of noodle soup. Still no sign of the bus. So I started walking and a minute later, 2 buses of my expected line overtook me! Anurak is a very capable old man and he offers overnight stays in his old Thai house in a side street. Everything is very simple, all made of wood, no air conditioning (for the sake of the environment), which is not necessary because the windows were constructed in a way that perfectly cools the room. Shared showers and toilets, for showering cold water flows from the modern small blue plastic pipe. Everything is authentic and also very cheap, what more could you ask for? I was lucky to arrive here on the weekend, so I could go straight to the Chatuchak Weekend Market. The market has been famous for many years among locals and tourists, it has everything you need. Clothes, souvenirs, art, and of course, you won't starve either.
Bangkok - Sightseeing
I've been to Bangkok so many times, and yet this time I discovered something new again. There are so many beautiful temples. And I spent quite some time on the express boats on the 'Chao Praya' river, you can get off wherever you want and get on again whenever you want. I always find Bangkok very beautiful and I recommend everyone to make a stop here.
