Off to the sea!

After the big city, we are in the mood for summer, sunshine! That's why we pack our things into the car and leave Paris towards La Rochelle.

Because we are stingy, we of course only drive on country roads and enjoy the view. And Dan Brown. There's nothing like a good audio book...

Eventually, even we arrive and after a good night's sleep at our host family, we could start our trip to La Rochelle and Ile de Re the next day!

La Rochelle is a beautiful city. Especially because you can go shopping there! 😍 But since we are not complete culture barbarians, we also visited the old city wall and the three towers. Very pretty.

After this cultural excursion, we wanted to eat and go to the sea. So we headed to the island and over the second longest bridge in France...

And then we reached the destination of our interim dreams: food!

Eating in France is particularly exciting because in most cases, we don't know 100% what we actually ordered.

The results of our ordering attempts are as follows:

Water. Really!

Fish soup. Probably...

Heavenly fish! And the sauce! And the mushrooms! And potatoes! It was soooo delicious!

The culinary highlight: Coffee mousse!!

Well-fed, it was time for shopping!!! (Our cultural interest really reflects in us 😂😅)

But finally, we found the beach!

Only the sun didn't want to come out yet... but that would follow...
