We got up early to admire the sunrise in Rainbow Beach.
Then we headed back towards Redcliffe.
For the return journey from Rainbow Beach to Redcliffe, we didn't take the direct route via the Bruce Highway, but leisurely meandered through the beautiful 'hinterland', a term borrowed from German by Australians and speaks for itself. However, opinions differ on where exactly the hinterland begins, and what is still considered farmerland, that is, rural land. In any case, both are still far from the Outback, but very charming and with wide-ranging views. And as green as it is currently, the Australians don't usually know their hinterland.
We made our first stop at Searys Creek and then continued through the beautiful Kin-Kin Valley with wonderful older and newer houses with beautiful gardens and plenty of landscape in between.
The next stop was a delicious lunch snack in Mapleton, and then we continued to Kondalilla Falls, which we explored on a short hike.
And last but not least, we made another stop in Montville, terrace with a magnificent view over the hills and forests of the hinterland to the Sunshine Coast.
