Today, we had a hike in the Grand Sandy National Park on the program. We walked a distance of approximately 20 km on the Cooloola Great Walk. The starting point was Freshwater Lake, and then we hiked up and down through the magnificent, partly dense, partly lighter rainforest, passing Lake Poona, up to Carlo Sandblow, and back to Rainbow Beach.
Impressive is the diversity of vegetation, the tall, mighty trees, and lizards.
The weather also suddenly switched to summer, so we were glad to be able to walk mostly shaded by the forest! The sunlight is immediately intense, and the humidity is high.
