On the last 60km we leave the mountains and ride through rural areas. Wine grows everywhere. But there are also palm trees, pines and cypresses to be seen. The path leads us through pretty little villages and finally on the Via Julia Augusta to Aquileia, where we visit the beautiful old basilica. World heritage and known for the largest mosaic floor of the western Roman Empire. After a short break and snack at the café next to the basilica, we continue for the last kilometers towards Grado. Along the road, the lagoon of Grado now surrounds us on the left and right, and we finally reach our destination. A beautiful little town, with a lovely old town, boats, and the Adriatic Sea. We end the evening with an Aperol Spritz and look forward to the trip to Venice tomorrow.
