From Koh Tao to Chumphon

Buga: 25.03.2023

Day 17 (23.03.2023)

The last morning on Koh Tao started very relaxed. Since our speedboat to Chumphon only left in the afternoon, we had some time to ourselves. We used this time to sleep in, so the alarm didn't go off until 9:30 a.m. Erik tried the instant coffee from the hotel for a change and quickly realized why he had refrained from it until now. But at least it was free. After breakfast, we chilled out until departure time at one of the many pools on the hotel grounds.

At 2 p.m., the shuttle took us to the harbor, where there were tourists everywhere. We could hardly find a place to wait for our boat to depart. The journey took about 2 hours and Erik once again slept through everything.

Arriving in Chumphon, we took a taxi to our hotel (Sri Chumphon Hotel). It was said to be centrally located. Unfortunately, we had to realize that Chumphon didn't have the best nightlife to offer. There wasn't much to discover, so after eating in a small restaurant, we returned to the hotel.

Erik had met a Canadian woman through a website, whose name we don't want to mention here, and had spontaneously arranged to meet her for the evening. Ann-Sophie, on the other hand, had had enough for the day and wanted to do some sports. So Erik set off alone at 9 p.m.

Rebecca, the Canadian, has been living in Thailand for 1 1/2 years now and speaks Thai. Together with her, Erik discovered a street food market not far from the hotel. It was incredibly crowded, colorful, and very loud. It was striking that we seemed to be the only foreigners in the entire market. To our surprise, there was a stage set up right next to the market where a Thai pop/rock band was performing. It was a bit overwhelming but also very entertaining.

At around 11:30 p.m., Erik finally made his way back to the hotel.
