We have to leave at seven! Too many remarkable things are happening outside of T5. The sun looks over the surface of the water. This is shallow and smooth, and a light mist rises. The first large ships and bowsers move into this mood. There is a lot of traffic in front of our sliding door.
We also want to have a boat day today. We drive pretty directly to the former fishing island of Burano in the northeast of the main island. We were promised lots of colorful houses. What we see then exceeds our expectations. Certainly spruced up for tourism, but nevertheless wonderfully colorful, the second largest Venetian island surprised us very pleasantly.
The whole thing reminds us a bit of Helgoland. Once the last ship has sailed with the day guests, things will be nice. But we'll save that for next time. We still want to go to Murano.
Known for hundreds of years for its glass craftsmanship, this ancient craft is still active and is partly active again. The retail trade consists almost exclusively of shops that sell Murano glass. Unfortunately, we can no longer manage a visit to the glass museum. But a little shopping trip and an ice cream in the sun.
Here too, we think that despite the many guests and tourists, this part of Venice has retained a certain authenticity.
We drive back to San Marco, wander through the crazy Aqua Alta bookstore and then head over to Fusina. Tomorrow we want to move on, but we would like to come back again.
Ciao Venezia!
