We had breakfast in Bodenmais today. The weather forecast was not quite clear, so we decided to drive to Bodenmais by car. There we started in Joskas Glasparadies with breakfast. We both drink our coffee black, but on vacation we sometimes drink cappuccino with sugar - with a Bavarian butter pretzel. We are still not sure whether the Swabian butter pretzel or the Bavarian pretzel is better. The Bavarian one is consistently the same thickness, so it is completely sliced open and spread with butter. Our Swabian pretzel has the thick belly, into which a lot of butter fits, and these delicious, crispy, thin arms.
We stroll, look, and shop for a while among the many colorful and noble glasses, then we continue to Zwiesel.
Today the landlord from the Dampfbierbrauerei in Zwiesel provided wonderful entertainment. He enjoys his job. He has funny sayings for every guest, so he immediately points out to us on arrival that we should stay away from the table because he wants to sterilize everything thoroughly first, because the two people who sat there before us looked so sick.
When 2 ladies come after us and kindly ask if they can sit at a table that has just become available, he shouts loudly that they have to wait, he has to check their creditworthiness first. The two do not understand right away, so he asks if they have enough money with them. After they confirm, they are allowed to take a seat. So far we have not been able to check in anywhere in Bavaria using an app, but here attendance is still recorded with pen and paper. The landlord tells other guests not only to provide their name and telephone number, but also their full address. He has Russian friends who specialize in household liquidations in case something goes wrong here.
So we enjoy our lunch in a good mood. After that, we take a walk through the city. The weather is so wonderful that we briefly pull down our pants in a parking lot just after Zwiesel - to put on our cycling shorts. A bike tour to the equator was still planned. We definitely wanted to take advantage of this unique opportunity - we have never been so close before! It's about the Weißwurstäquator. This is located directly at the entrance to Zwiesel. Until now, I (Mario) thought it was located on the Main line, but that was probably only colloquially handed down. The one defined here lies exactly on the 49th parallel north latitude. North of this line, the Weißwurst is not at home, just like the Matjes in Bavaria, even if the discounters disregard this constitution. After our detailed research, we had to realize that our hometown of Althütte lies on the 48.9137654th northern latitude and thus below the imaginary Weißwurstgrenze. Now it becomes clear to us why the Weißwurst from some butchers in our homeland tastes so good to us. No wonder, because they were and are then produced completely legally. Unfortunately, we were still full from lunch and it was already well past 12:00 noon, so we couldn't taste the Weißwurst directly at the equator.
Our tour first took us on country roads away from Zwiesel, to get to the Schwarzer Regen via a somewhat demanding route, including a downhill trail (unfortunately, only the participants who have a mountain bike enjoy this). Wonderful water. A local explained to us that this is "fly fishing area". We saw big fish in the flowing water and took a short foot bath before continuing along the "Schwarzer Regen". There we also found that not only water buffalo love the swamp, but also completely normal cows.
We let the wonderful summer day, which came without thunderstorms or rain despite the forecasts, fade away and are already planning the next tour for tomorrow.
