This article will only touch on a small part of what is written in the title. I just wanted to make you want to take a stroll through this amusement park when you visit Vienna.
In retrospect, I actually realized that the Prater is much more than just a fairground with carousels. Instead, the park was opened by Emperor Joseph II in 1766. Before that, it was a hunting ground.
The numerous rides and attractions were built from the end of the 19th century onwards. The historic Ferris wheel is even a landmark of Vienna.
However, we didn't go on that one this time. Instead, we visited the second and more modern one. Because this one can't be called the Ferris wheel, it's called the Flower Wheel. Of course, you also have a wonderful view from this one, all the way to the skyscrapers in the distance.
I also went on a swing carousel again. And I enjoyed it! But the ride shouldn't have lasted a minute longer. I'm not 20 anymore.
But as already mentioned, the Prater is more than just an amusement park. There is a museum and also a huge park where events are often held. And the football stadium is also located in the Praterwald. Unknowingly, we visited it when we were at the Ernst Happel Stadium for the AC/DC concert a day later:
