Botanical Garden and Zoo

Today was finally the day. María, my best friend from Paraguay, had the day off and we went to the botanical garden together.

I really liked the botanical garden, even though for me it was more like a park. But maybe my idea of a botanical garden is too influenced by Europe.

Inside the botanical garden, there is also a zoo, which of course we visited.

Even though I didn't like the way the animals were kept, I thought they were beautiful.

What we consider exotic, here are the native animal species.

Aside from the native animals, there were only tigers, lions, and elephants.

So we made our way to the native animals. To get an idea of what is native to Paraguay, here are some photos:

Now onto the larger animals.

With a temperature of what felt like 40°C and high humidity, we soon sought the shade of a large tree. We couldn't miss having a little something to eat.

I really wanted to see where Maria works. So we continued driving. On the way there, I had to take a picture of a car because it was just too funny.. :-D

Maria is the branch manager of an American burger chain. What's really funny is that when someone enters the restaurant, the staff all shout 'Hola' together. And when they leave as well. The staff also performs a dance once per hour.

After that, we were completely exhausted and Maria fell asleep in our hammock.
