🇬🇧 English version below
Tour dates: Distance 99.7 kilometers (cum. 5‘003 kilometers), Ø 21.4 km/h, duration 4:39 hours
Weather: only sun from morning to night with up to 29° warm, partly welcome wind from all sides
Last night I first took a little walk through the town. And after updating my blog, I went to the Chinese restaurant right next to the hotel. Chinese cuisine is my preferred way of eating. However, I was the only guest, which surprised me. Maybe it was because people wanted to sit outside and the Hotel Schiff does not have the option for that. The landlord, with whom I later had a lot to discuss, advised me and both the soup and the curry were excellent. If you are ever in Breisach, you should definitely eat there and also sleep there if you need a room.
Later, two nice young people came to the table next to ours. Sabrina and Moritz, as I later found out, have only recently moved to Breisach. I also got to know the name of the landlord later. Wisi has a Chinese wife, which explains the good cuisine. Wisi offered all of us a liqueur that we could not refuse. Of course, we also talked about my trip, which fascinated all three of them.
This morning I had arranged to have breakfast with Inge and Claude from Bad Krozingen. I was allowed to spend the first evening of my trip with them in Bad Krozingen. And already last fall I went on a training tour to them.
I knew from yesterday that it is very tiring to ride in the great heat. On the one hand, this prompted me to leave as early as possible, and on the other hand, not to ride all the way home. After a long search on the internet, I found a B+B in Buckten, which I reached shortly after 4 p.m.
It is not far from the breakfast table to the Rhine. And since the path mostly led through the forest, it was considerably cooler than in direct sunlight. Afterwards, some wind also came up, which provided even more refreshment. A cool cider on the riverbank in Basel gave me a good feeling.
Surprisingly, there were customs officers at the border, who greeted me nicely and let me pass. Then I rode along the promenade along the Rhine on a bike path. Although cars are also allowed there, cyclists have the right of way. In the Rhine, I already saw people swimming in the river. But I prefer my bike.
Just a few kilometers before my destination for the day, my on-board computer reached the magical number of 7,690 kilometers. So exactly 5,000 since I set off exactly 2 months ago. This means I have crossed a magical limit for myself. Two months ago it was still completely uncertain whether I would achieve that.
