Weather: The forecasts were not so great. However, when I got up it was dry and cloudy. Because breakfast was late, I didn't leave until about 9:30 am. It was still dry for a few hours and the rain that came later was manageable. When I arrived in Ludwigshafen, it was dry and I was dry too.
Today, I also cycled through the villages as there is no path along the Rhine. Especially when the ground is wet, this was a good solution. Later, however, I had to ride part of the tour on field and forest paths, so the bike still got quite dirty.
I particularly enjoyed riding through Karlsruhe and Speyer today. In Karlsruhe, the park with the palace was special, and then there was a really long ride on a straight path through the forest heading north. Speyer itself is impressive with its technical museum, where you can see a jumbo jet among other things. We visited this museum a few years ago, it is highly recommended. However, today I didn't have time for that, as there was still a distance to cover to Ludwigshafen.
Only in Waldsee, a small town before Ludwigshafen, did I take the time to look for a hotel. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask if I could charge my e-bike. Since the hotel entrance is on the first floor, it is not possible here, but the landlord provided me with a garage, which unfortunately does not have a power connection. Therefore, I had to take the two batteries to the room and now I have to charge them separately. This is a novelty for me, but certainly not the last time on this tour.
