Laundry day on the roadside

Today it was time again to give our things a thorough cleaning instead of just rinsing them in the sink. Since the laundry service at the accommodation is relatively expensive, I decided to try a new method with another mom: public washing machines on the roadside!

So off we went on the rental bike, about 1km down the road, with the child in a child seat and the laundry in a basket. And there they were, 5 washing machines right on the roadside, freely accessible to everyone. Conveniently, you could buy detergent right next door at the kiosk. Since they don't sort by colors (let alone wash temperature) here anyway, you just open the flap, put in the laundry, put 20 baht (about 50 cents) in the machine, and start. A good hour later, we went back and could pick up our clean, still wet laundry. Simple and straightforward; like so many things here in this country!

We spent the time in between enjoying ourselves at the Italian restaurant! Spaghetti and pizza gave us a little taste of home :-)
