After a restful night's sleep, we wake up to sunshine. The first time we can see almost no clouds in the sky. We get ready for the next drive towards the national park and Tourist Road '8'. We are somewhat surprised to find that it is a winding mountain road that goes up 640 meters in altitude. But Yoshi can handle it - luckily he is an automatic, so hill starts are easy.
On the way, we stop for breakfast in the almost empty parking lot of Morton National Park. We take a quick look at Mapsme (map app) because it tells us that there are two hiking trails leading from our parking lot. Strengthened, we venture onto the smaller path, which offers us a breathtaking view of a huge canyon. Didn't see that one coming! Afterwards, we follow the path past various animals (echidna, copycat, ...), plants, and waterfalls.
Back at Yoshi, we continue along the tourist route to the village of 'Kangaroo Valley'. The entrance to the village is via a castle-like bridge, under which a brown river flows. Kangaroo Valley resembles a movie set, so after leaving the village, we turn around and ask for a place to stay for the night at the campsite. We check in at the campsite, take a walk to get an overview, and chat with our neighbors. We are immediately enchanted by the simple but beautiful facilities.
At the entrance to the village, we caught a glimpse of the river, where many people were swimming. Due to the heat, we decide to walk the 1.3 km. Along the way, we grab an iced coffee to go - it makes the heat and the walk more bearable. When we arrive, we look forward to a refreshing swim.
Back at Yoshi, we enjoy our dinner and try our hand at our new game Qwinto (P.S. Sarah has won every game so far). Some mosquitoes also have their fun - especially with Sarah... We say goodbye to the day and fall asleep to the sound of parrots chirping and squawking.
