A pretty restless night. 250ml of wine, two Raki and another schnapps are already enough for that!
For today, my travel guide promises me 'intuitive navigation' on the way to Spili on the western slope of Kedros (1,777m).
It worked really well and the view was fantastic. Afterwards, I went through cultivated landscape again, mostly on asphalt. Spili has a long thoroughfare with many shops and restaurants lined up. After a Greek salad, I decide to start the next stage. Except for a few small sections, it continued through the cultural landscape of Crete with many olive trees and very nice small villages with many beautifully landscaped gardens. Once again, I had to go through a gate (usually a rebar mat that is somehow closed with wire or a rope), when I was greeted very friendly by a horse that first sniffed at the hiking poles that were put aside. When I got through the first barrier, I still had to go through the second one. I hardly had time to untie the wire and the knot, every time I turned away from the horse, it nibbled on my backpack. It didn't seem to be scared away. So it took quite a while until I was through here. But it was a welcome change and must have ended quite funny. Horses have a sense of humor somehow. In the tavern in Agkouseliana, I had someone help me find a solution for my accommodation. There are only villas (from 160 € per night) in this area and I didn't agree with that. In the end, a lady found a villa for 40€. She even drove me there. The house had at least 200 sqm on two floors and a huge garden in the middle of the countryside. I felt a bit lost there.
