We will soon be setting off for new, partly already familiar shores.
Saying goodbye to GB is particularly difficult for me because I am extremely Anglophile. I could also imagine a life here, but if I'm realistic, we're about 20 years too late.
I like the lightness, the life here, which usually doesn't have much to do with bad weather, because it doesn't snow here, there's no frost, palm trees grow almost everywhere... Yes, it's rarely more than 30 degrees, but Even 25 degrees feels extremely hot and often very humid for continental Europeans. I know northern England with Bolton and the southeast with Norwich, both have their charm, but my heart beats for the wilder west, especially the Scottish Highlands and the Outer Hebrides.
Now, after 2 months, we continue here, a little into the unknown for me. If I'm honest, it just has to do with my fear of a language that I understand well when written, but usually less so when spoken. My French desperately needs polishing, so off to new horizons! I just have to take on a new challenge because I really like France with all its peculiarities, I also have my best friend who is French...
To make sure everything went smoothly, we took advantage of the initially very foggy day to go for a walk in Kings Wood near Ashford. It was gigantic because chestnuts grow here, which we don't have in Chiemgau. Unfortunately, we are still too early, as the harvest in Tyrol usually doesn't start until the end of October. The few chestnuts that were already open still clearly lacked ripeness on the inside. But the deer are happy when they don't meet Loki, who fortunately lets himself be dissuaded from hunting.
The forests aren't really colorful yet, it's hard to believe that the trees in England also drop their leaves, but yes, that's exactly what happens.
The day after was more dedicated to housework, airing out the dog cushions, Christian cleaning the car, then shoes and jackets were re-waterproofed after the storms in Ireland and Wales.
I'm looking forward to the next stops, which I only know from midsummer. It will also be interesting to see whether some of the campsites are still open, and of course the weather.
BUT I'm in good spirits, I think I packed too many thick sweaters because I was out and about again in a T-shirt at 10 a.m. despite the high fog.
Maybe we've already gotten used to the temperatures, but I'm also looking forward to new shores, new experiences, new people, new language and lots of fun!
