First of all, last night was definitely more pleasant and we woke up to sunshine again. However, it was a bit later and we headed to breakfast before the next hike. But today the place was in chaos, because it was market day! We had to park quite a distance away because the central square at the harbor and in front of the market hall was crowded. So a few more steps for the fitness tracker on our phone! But we were lucky because everything was crowded and a table became available at our breakfast spot! That 'laissez-faire feeling' again and then a little stroll through the market. Stalls with farmers selling their own products and stalls with ladies' underwear in laundry baskets and then again stoneware in typical Breton shapes and colors. Everything was there and not geared towards tourist masses. Nicely relaxing. Karin found a great bakery with grain bread and had a good slice of it cut. Everything here was weighed and sold by kilo price! Even if you buy cake from a large piece.
We already knew part of the way to the coast and wanted to park further north. Karin is getting better and better with the map and guided us along a northern path. Today we wanted to walk to Pointe Van. Oh, one more remark: The Pointe du Raz, where we were yesterday, is often referred to as the westernmost point of mainland France, but it is actually exceeded by 3 centimeters by the Pointe de Corsen (a headland northwest of Brest). That didn't bother us and once again it was quite challenging going up and down towards the north. Here too, the path was close to the edge of the coast and the rugged cliffs and deep coves amazed us. Luckily, the path wasn't too long because we both didn't feel quite up for it. Along the way, we found a parking lot with a small bistro that invited us to take a break. On the way back, we made a spontaneous stop at a bathing bay that we had seen from the car the day before and said goodbye to the Atlantic with a swim at 17.5°C (a woman with a thermometer around her neck gave us the info). By the way, such a stop has been possible everywhere so far and is not comparable to Germany. No parking fees at the beach, no admission ticket to enter the beach, no digging ban on the shore, no...! Everything you have experienced before. No beach chairs, but only partially lifeguards!
In the evening, we tried fish again for dinner: And this time it was almost perfect, because they didn't have skate today either, even though it was on the menu! Instead, we had a fantastic fish soup that I shared with Karin. She then had a small pan with three different types of fish in a delicious cream sauce: Aigle (Eagle? here hake), cod, and salmon. Everything was very well prepared and extremely tasty. The prices were also right, as we paid about 60 € including tip. We also had this price range the night before. At home, we prepared for the next night, and overall, it didn't feel as cold as the previous evenings. I enjoyed the red wine, and I probably smiled at the final cigarette!?
