Day 18: culturally rich Dresden

Buga: 19.09.2017

Traditionally, we first got our breakfast from the bakery and consumed it while waiting for the tram. It took us along the green tracks to the western end of the old town. On foot, we meandered through the beautifully restored streets of Dresden. Among other things, we visited the Dresdner Zwinger, the Semperoper, and the Dresdner Schloss. Although the temperatures slowly climbed from their 9°C in the early morning, we warmed up in between with a hot drink.

The old town of Dresden can easily be explored in a morning, so after a brief visit to the interior of the Frauenkirche, we walked purposefully to a sushi restaurant that Mini had already spotted the day before. Miso soup, seaweed salad, and two sushi plates put a smile on our faces.

Only half the day had passed, so we decided to visit the exhibition 'The Face' at the German Hygiene Museum. It covered various topics such as anatomy, facial expressions, computer-controlled face recognition, and portraits with art objects, historical and digitally supported exhibits. For almost three hours, we expanded our knowledge through many texts, exhibition objects, and audio recordings, and we can say that this exhibition was more than worth it.

Enjoying the last rays of sunshine, we strolled through the large garden towards our accommodation. It took us almost an entire hour at a leisurely pace to cross it. Once we arrived at the accommodation, we had spaghetti with pesto, and we made the final preparations for the next day of our journey.
