Ulan-Ude Kilometer 5640

Buga: 01.06.2019

Ulan-Ude is the economic, scientific and cultural center of East Siberia and already the last stop on our Trans-Siberian journey. The blue-white-yellow flag of Buryatia symbolizes the sky, purity and sun.

The largest Lenin head in the world is erected on the central square. It was part of the Russian pavilion at the World Exhibition in Canada in the 1970s. Afterwards, the 42-ton colossus landed here. In old Buryatia, the severed heads of defeated enemies were publicly displayed, what does this now mean 😳

The next day there was a small parade on the square.

Many buildings were built by German prisoners of war after World War II before Lake Baikal. East of it were the Japanese who had completed the building of the Buryat National Opera House.

There are still many old, richly decorated wooden houses in Ulan-Ude

The Hodigitreja Cathedral is considered one of the most beautiful Baroque churches in East Siberia

I also found a replacement for my jacket at the central market 😊 Unfortunately, the old one liked Jaroslavl so much that she stayed there, unlike me 😂

Place of foundation of the city with foreign Turi

The Trans-Siberian Railway branches off to Mongolia and our destination Vladivostok after Ulan-Ude. There are infinitely long freight trains..
