The tall bushman grass (Stipagrostis ciliata) is the most common grass in central Namibia. We are particularly fascinated by the seeds, as one end of the seed looks like a feather and is easily carried by the wind, while the other end contains the actual seed in a drill tip-like structure. The tip of the seed is rotated into the sand by the wind like a drill, before breaking off and leaving only the seed stuck in the ground.
