Kaua'i is also called "The Garden Island" - and it's true! It's so green and almost impossible to notice that this island was once a volcanic island. The Nāpali Coast, however, makes this history clear again. All horizontal lines in the rock are lava flow lines - and there are MANY of them! This coastline cannot be reached by car, only by boat, helicopter or by long, strenuous hikes. In places the lava cliffs are up to 1000 m high. This becomes clear when you see trees or the helicopters that you can see from time to time. Our boat tour along the Nāpali Coast lasts a good four hours and is really exciting and spectacular. Outstanding filming locations have been found here for numerous Hollywood films and can be easily found in the corresponding films. After snorkeling, we were given delicious sandwiches and chips. When we got out of the boat barefoot, we found all of our shoes carefully placed on the dock - what service!
