The Anzac Day is a public holiday in Australia. On this day, the military is honored and the fallen soldiers of various wars are remembered. It all started at 5:00 a.m. in the park at a memorial site. We only went out on the street at 9:00 a.m. to watch the military parade, which was broadcasted on TV throughout Australia.
We were able to watch many soldiers and former soldiers for 45 minutes. Additionally, fighter jets and combat helicopters flew over us. It was a great atmosphere, the audience applauded and some waved the Australian flag. Such a march and such joy for one's homeland is unimaginable in Germany.
Afterwards, the military went to the marquee where the celebration took place. The Aussies went to the pub, celebrated, and watched football. After the military parade, we went back to sleep and then to the pool to cool off.
In the evening, after sunset, we went to the beach. There, at 7:10 p.m., we could see the planet Jupiter passing by. An impressive event! Unfortunately, not as spectacular as with a telescope.
