Chapter 12: On the Lofoten islands

The landscape here is characterized by small fishing villages in front of rugged cliffs.

Along the 'Kong Olav Vei' we explore the archipelago in the persistent twilight.

Unlike the ocean, the numerous lakes are frozen and form bizarre ice formations.

Thanks to fortunate timing, we were able to join an Asian tour group in the normally closed Viking museum.

Stockfish chips, reindeer roast, and freshly caught halibut offered an insight into the local cuisine. The evening ended in the glow of the Northern Lights.

To enjoy the play of colors a little longer, we decided to sleep on the fjord shore under the open sky. Despite the winter sleeping bag, this endeavor was colder than expected.
