28.02. from Coober Pedy to Marla
There are 2 campers at Opal Inn campground, there won't be any more, because the reception is definitely closed after us. It doesn't bother us, we are fine, and we have WIFI, long-lost cravings for the World Wide Web are awakened. It's getting late. And the fan that Frank found in the laundry drives away the flies and waves fresh air. In the early morning, we visit the Old Miners Museum and marvel at the energy of the opal seekers who search for the coveted opals under such adverse conditions here. We see how they dug the caves, set up their homes, and lived. Not an easy life and not everyone has really become rich, that's always only the others. Finally, I am allowed and would like to choose some beautiful pieces of opal jewelry and I am delighted.
We continue driving to the Painted Desert, which is a bit off the road, but so what. And soon we see the different colorful mountains with hard and soft material and we are excited. Such images remind us of Argentina. Back on the dusty trail, we pass through different vegetation zones, only rocks, bright green everywhere, bushes when a creek winds through the landscape. On the Stuart Highway, we don't see as many varied landscapes. In Cadney Homestead, we have another coffee and we stay in Marla. Here there is a roadhouse with a campground, pool, and pub. No pool today, so we go to the pub, where there is wifi and we delight the audience with new pictures. We really enjoy that.
Today we are cooking again, there are coarse beef sausages with sweet potatoes and butter beans, of course with fresh salad from my onboard kitchen.
I am satisfied, we are satisfied.
