Over the plane to another culture

Buga: 24.09.2021

We were about to experience another unexpected adventure on our last day of vacation. With relatively low expectations, we followed another recommendation from our host and made a stop at Europe's former largest airplane hangar on our way to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Oh, how wrong we were! After climbing on an old airplane wreck, we headed into the hangar, which was built several kilometers deep into the mountain. Initially, we ventured on foot and then drove our car inside. What an experience! On the way back, we speeded down the former runway, finally putting the 190 horsepower to the test. What a blast!

After a picnic on the runway, we crossed the border into Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was only a few meters away... To our surprise, data roaming was off, and we were no longer in the EU!

Just a few meters beyond the border, it became clear that the culture here was completely different from neighboring Croatia. The horizon was filled with numerous minarets of mosques, and in the background, we could hear the calls to the midday prayer. The signs displayed Cyrillic letters. After a short walk through the city of Bihač, we stopped at a mosque on our way back to enjoy the magnificent view.
