Today starts off rocky. My shower stuff has taken up space in my toiletry bag. It's a real mess! My bladder is also acting up and I go to the local pharmacy. A very nice pharmacist gives me some tablets and I hope they work.
We drive to Braga, the fourth largest city in Portugal. With a lot of luck we get a parking space next to the archaeological museum. For the first time on our trip we come across busloads of tourists. 🙈
We start the city tour at the cathedral - quite impressive. We stroll through the pedestrian zones, past the Torre de Menagem, a remnant of the city wall. Many old houses have been lovingly restored.
Of course, there is another coffee with Pasteis de Nata along the way.
To the east of Braga lies the pilgrimage church of Bom Jesus do Monte. We save ourselves a lot of steps and take the water-powered funicular up and down again. 🤩
Not far away is Guimaraes - our next destination. Our lovely campsite is at the top of the mountain, not far from another pilgrimage church.
We are the only guests in the nearby restaurant. 🙈 The food is okay….
