We set off from our campsite Le Truc vert in brilliant sunshine. We join the queue heading towards Bordeaux over the long headland of Cap Ferret. The traffic is already pretty heavy and we wonder what it will be like here in summer. The streets are lined with magnificent old villas, but also new ones, and a few small fishermen's houses, as there are a few fishermen here who farm oysters.
After many roundabouts we finally reach the motorway in Bordeaux and continue on it to Tours.
Unfortunately, the weather has deteriorated considerably and it keeps raining.
In Tours we take our bikes and cycle along the wonderfully developed Loire Valley cycle path directly along the Loire for about 8 km to the center of Tours. Unfortunately, the rain finally catches us here, with a heavy thunderstorm. It looks pretty bleak. The shops are closed or closing. The chairs outside are folded up and only a few people brave the weather.
Of course, we still look at the Cathedrale St. Gatien and the Cathedrale St. Martin, stroll through the old town and admire the beautiful old half-timbered houses. We drink a cup of coffee and eat delicious cake, but then we drive back because we don't want to wait until the weather gets better again...
We cycle back in light rain and have dinner in the campsite restaurant.
