Visiting Rothenburg has been exhausting for me. In this crisis-ridden year of 2020, when the world as a whole has been battered and travel has often been possible only in limited form. It has been exhausting for me during this weekend in Rothenburg, with the many people who, despite the crisis, were still on the move, to be able to capture images like the ones above. While the usual suspects from Japan, China, India, or overseas, who normally inundate Rothenburg with tourists in the summer, were absent in this crisis-ridden year, many people from the surrounding area in particular or from European core countries in general, who were also unable to travel overseas, had gathered in large numbers for the tourist feast in Rothenburg on this weekend at least.
Under these circumstances, a lot of endurance and great effort was necessary to capture the desired motif in the desired or at least reasonably satisfying form, with the often disturbing movement dynamics of a randomly wandering, tastelessly sometimes even dressed and dubiously behaving crowd. The daring almost reckless endeavor often required more than ten photographic attempts in a period of about twenty minutes . . .
The photographic result is intended to be presented as a colorful extravaganza. Inspiration and joy, as well as entertainment, are supposed to be experienced by my dear readers when viewing the pictures here. Inspiration, joy, and entertainment that I gladly also draw from other contributions on this platform. Inspiration and joy until the crisis situation is over and travel is possible again in the desired form.
