What a day 😃! After landing at San Francisco Airport at around 6 am after a five-hour flight with United Airlines in the worst Business Class of all time (the Americans even call it their incredible First Class in their unbelievable arrogance) and with the worst food of all time, and after a tired taxi ride, we stood at the reception of the White Swan Inn where a bad night turned into a fantastic day. Not only were we allowed to check into our beautiful room hours before the official check-in time, we were also kindly invited for breakfast. The hotel is a lovingly designed boutique hotel with lots of art and even more crazy styles that have been wildly mixed.
After some rest, we headed towards "Fisherman's Wharf" on foot! Guys, if you think Ottostraße in KL is steep, you should try walking around in San Francisco. Here, the streets have gradients of up to 31.5% (!). By the way, the steepest street in Germany has 25%. In other words, where we walked today, Reinhold Messner would have needed a rope 😂😂😂.
On the way to Fisherman's Wharf, we happened to pass by Harley Davidson San Francisco by chance, and just as accidentally, we ended up with 3 new t-shirts in our bag 😉. Did I already mention that we had glorious weather? Blue sky and pure sunshine, with temperatures around 18 degrees in the shade. The guy at the Harley store said it's totally unusual for this time of year. Well, we're more than happy with it ☀️.
Then we strolled along the waterfront between Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39, checked out the many seafood restaurants and shops, visited the large colony of sea lions just before Pier 39, and then took advantage of the dream weather for a great hour-long cruise through the sunny San Francisco Bay, where we were shown and explained many sights, went under the Golden Gate Bridge, and passed Alcatraz. It was simply wonderful.
Since our need for mountain climbing was more than satisfied and our step count for today was in the dark green range, a friendly Uber driver took us back to the hotel. After a short nap, we had a small pizza 🍕 at "Uncle Vito's" next door to bring on the sleepiness, which has now been achieved. 😊.
Once again, what a wonderful day it has been. Happily and gratefully, now it's off to bed 🛌😴
