With my budget airline (SpiceAir), I arrived quickly and cheaply (60€) in Mumbai from Jaisalmer and was able to avoid a 15-hour bus ride.
Not to mention the train, because I would have had to wait several days for tickets again.
Arriving in Mumbai, I ended up at the Locomo Hostel, which turned out to be a brilliant choice... relaxed and helpful people, great location and clean.
As far as cleanliness is concerned, Mumbai may not win any beauty prizes, but it is considerably more attractive than Delhi.
In total, I stayed 3 nights in Delhi and got to know the nightlife of Mumbai instead of visiting many sights (except for the rather lame "Elephanta Island"). It was also good.
Overall, I liked Mumbai quite a bit.
Lately, I have noticed more and more that India is becoming more comfortable in the south, so before I would have completely settled down in the hostel in Mumbai, I decided to continue towards the south.
