Oh, that was fun!! 🥂
It started with the ferry crossing, which took 40 minutes. The weather was perfect with 20°C and sunshine. The Auckland skyline was in the background and we drove through the most beautiful landscape to Waiheke Island to visit 3 wineries. Chardonnay, rose from Pinot Noir and heavy Shiraz, sometimes 6-7 blends... Well.... .
All wineries are in beautiful spots, very French, olive groves, lavender and rosemary and hilly landscape with views of the water.
We ate at the Batch Winery in a very nice rustic ambience, great food and again drank Sauvignon Blanc from the Marlborough Sounds, which I like the best so far... 👍👍
There were a few nice people on the bus, a small group, the guide was a young Englishman who was very funny and did a good job.
The island is beautiful, such a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere with a bit of French beach flair... I could spend my retirement there... 🌊🌅
