After a night with little sleep (muscle soreness and itchy mosquito bites), we were on our way again. From the hotel to Lake Achensee, where the great Geisberg trail began. Up and down again and again on a narrow path with lots of rocks and forest floor - just to my taste 😀. Some parts were very steep, so we were glad to have hiking poles. And always the magnificent view of Lake Achensee and the mountains. Super!
After 2.5 hours, we reached the Geisbergalmhütte and had a coffee break. Very nice location, with a view of the lake and mountains.
Then we continued to Pertisau, still on a beautiful path along the lake. There are cool hotels there, with beach lounges by the lake.
The last 3 km to Maurach were boring. But the view compensated us.
Originally, we didn't want to take the bus and train to Fügen as recommended, but unfortunately my knees suddenly started hurting. To be able to continue hiking the next stages, we decided to take the bus and train. It was a 15-minute walk from the train station in Fügen.
After 17 km and 300 meters of elevation gain, we reached our destination. We had to walk the last 10 minutes in heavy rain, but otherwise the weather was much better than forecasted. 20 degrees, and the sun even came out after a few hours.
Fortunately, the Hotel Elisabeth has a nice spa area where I can spend time until dinner.
