Slippery children and dirty tourists

Buga: 15.08.2020

August 4th, today's destination: The Rampestreken above #Åndalsnes. Actually, not a difficult route for us. 4.3 km and 500 meters in altitude, no big deal! Well, hold on a second. The trail itself is really nice, you climb up on the roots of the trees (literally - poor trees - by the way, you can tell that this is a really popular tourist spot) and occasionally encounter some rough stone steps and a few railings. But unfortunately, it rained the day before, which means the ground is wet and slippery, and so are the stones, and so are we after a few hundred meters of altitude. Nevertheless, we managed to reach the mentioned viewpoint. A long bridge leads to a beautiful view. Probably. Because we didn't go to this attraction. You had to wait in line...

View next to Rampestreken

Instead, a little off to the side, we watched the hundreds of other tourists with their mud-covered dogs and crying children posing on the bridge. And boy, did they pose! Some with their families, some all "instalike" with freshly painted beards and wind-blown faces, as if they had floated up the mountain. We - with tomato-red faces - watched this for a while. It was really a spectacle, but at some point we had to go back down.

Conclusion: If you don't like other people, you should refrain from climbing this mountain. There are certainly nicer routes with a similar view over the #Rommsdalsfjorden.
