At around 12 o'clock we set off from Auckland to Russell, we had a road map with us, wanted to avoid the ferry and drove through the lonely mountains, where only two cars came towards us. From Auckland we had rented a tent at the Holiday Park, where we arrived in the late afternoon, very nice! In Russell itself there is not much going on, a small town, like almost everything here, some nice cafes, a museum, a beach and a cemetery, that's it. The next day we took the passenger ferry to Paihia and from there we walked to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, where New Zealand history was written, on February 6, 1840 the Maori people and the British signed a constitution, making New Zealand a colony. Some Maori even showed us their rituals. We ended the evening in Russell at our tent. We only continue to Waipapakauri to sleep, because there are no accommodation options at Cape Reinga.
