Boxing Day and no albatrosses

Buga: 26.12.2023

December 26th is Boxing Day. It has nothing to do with the sport but with the box. In the 19th century It was probably customary in the Commonwealth for domestic servants to receive a box of Christmas presents on Boxing Day. Today, boxes also play a role because on Boxing Day, stores lure customers into the stores with big discounts. This is where the wonderful transformation of Christmas gifts of money into goods will take place. And it works brilliantly, as you can see from the huge snake. So a busy day for the bargain hunters. There was 35% off everything. Mathematically, this is quite challenging, since in addition to the discount, the exchange rate (0.57) also has to be taken into account. According to preliminary estimates, the pair of Nike Air sports shoes cost around 55 euros and those from Puma cost 50 euros.

I'll never take off the Puma (soft ride) ones again, they're so comfortable. The travel companion didn't buy anything...

Now I also know how you must feel as a journalist in Russia.

Then there was the Royal Albatross Center and the penguins on the Otago Peninsula. But unfortunately, unfortunately the albatross does not fly in bad weather and only through a guided tour can you see the birds sitting on the ground from afar. The long faces of the visitors who had completed the (NZ$ 55) tour spoke for themselves and the bargain hunters reacted immediately and decided to invest in Boxing Day again. However, the museum was free and so there were still a few pictures with the impressive bird.

The penguins (the smallest species in the world) probably only appear in the evening. Unlucky. But bargains come first.

... and then there were the two older ladies from Austria who stood at a loss in front of their huge SUV in front of the visitor center. The driver somehow managed to slash both tires (front and rear) on the driver's side at the same time. The edge of the road was bordered with concrete blocks. How the feat was accomplished will probably remain a secret and I didn't want to take any pictures because then I certainly wouldn't have gotten a smile.
