Finally we arrive in La Paz. We look for our B&B and have some local food. After breakfast, we head to the city center. First, we visit the Coca Museum and learn about the legal coca here.
Then we stroll through the Mercado de las Brujas (Witches Market). There are some unusual things to see here. In addition to herbs, incense, and skeletons, we find some curious items. Next door is the Inglesia de San Francisco and the Mercado Lanza. At the market, we sit with the locals and try some local cuisine at a small stand. After being refreshed, we wander through historic alleys and enjoy a coffee at a small cafe in a bookstore. We continue to another market where the stands are just opening. Here, numerous Christmas items are offered. Nativity figures, light chains with sound effects, decorations, and much more. Unfortunately, we cannot buy anything as our backpack space is limited.
Back at the accommodation, we meet two people from Germany and two from Colorado. We sit together for a long time and chat before we finally fall into the cozy bed. The next day is slightly more relaxed. We go to the center again and meet the people from our accommodation. Then it's time to say goodbye because in the evening, our night bus to Uyuni departs. It's a bit tight because there is a kind of parade in the city that is causing traffic to stall. But we manage to make it and we are sitting on the booked bus on time.
We spent another night in La Paz after our trip to Uyuni. However, we spent this day in bed as we were not feeling well and I had a fever. After resting and recovering, we were able to continue.
