We have planned 4 overnight stays on the route from San Francisco to Seattle. Today is the last evening before our final stop in the USA.
When we left San Francisco, we visited the Golden Gate Bridge. Fortunately, we were able to see it without fog, which apparently is very rare.
We continued along Highway 1 along the coast. This offered us a beautiful view of the vastness of the ocean.
We spent the first night in Fort Bragg. A cute motel with an even cuter wifi password: weloveyou.
The next day we continued to Crescent City. On the way there, we crossed the beautiful area of the Redwood trees. We made a short stop at the Drive Thru Tree Park, where we drove through a 2100-year-old tree with the car.
The only strange thing here is that it smells like grass everywhere. We'd rather not know what's going on behind all these tall trees.
Unfortunately, the third day was very foggy. Not because of the smell, but because of the weather.
Fortunately, we found our way safely to Waldport. We had dinner at the Flounder Inn Tavern. Apparently, the locals weren't used to tourists there, but they were very friendly. We also had a moment of suppressed laughter there. Imagine you enter this tavern, sports are playing everywhere, the locals are cheering for their team, the lights are dimmed. And in the background, Dancing Queen by ABBA is playing!
Today we are in Ilwaco and we are enjoying the tranquility here. Our feet are also grateful for this break, as in Seattle it will be: walking, walking, walking.
