We thawed out again and took a final walk in ELK Water/Cougarhill. You wouldn't believe it, but in the morning a cougar/puma walked our way in front of us. Fresh traces confirm this! Yes, you should take all the warnings about bears, cougars and wild animals in general seriously.
We're packing up. We weathered the icy cold well here. Now it's time to discover something new. Freddy also agrees to leave this camp. Animals have a good instinct.
We're on our way to Medicine Hat. We have an address here, but we can't reach anyone... but we have success with shopping (spare parts, hairdresser, etc.) It was our first time staying overnight in a Walmart parking lot because you're not allowed to stand in the city park.
The path through the prairie takes us to the Rocky Mountains. 80 km before we can see the mountains. It's very poignant and the weather is perfect. The sun is shining and lighting up the mountains. We find a great place in Waterton Lake National Park. Here too there is now a slimmed down version of the campground. It's like everywhere else right now. The summer season is over and the winter season has not yet begun. We walk the Bear Trail and look at the Cormoron waterfalls. You can now see one or two mobile homes here in the park on the weekend.
Saturday morning we continue. Jörg discovered a German brewery in Turner Valley. Since this village is right on the way, we of course go there. On the way in the prairie we meet the real cowboys. We watch the cattle being rounded up, as we should. At lunchtime we are at the Fahr brewery. A beer and then we move on. Unfortunately the owner wasn't there, but we were curious. We find a nice spot for the night on the river behind the village. It's just under 60 km along the beautiful mountains to Calgary. Wednesday we pick Jesse up from the airport. We are really happy.
The weekend is over again. There was also a winter time changeover here tonight, now we have a difference of 8 hours to Germany again
Do it well
