Our path takes us to the Wild West, although the West doesn't seem so wild at all. Off we go to the prairie, as we know it from Winnetou and Old Shatterhand. Barren grasslands, as far as the eye can see and occasionally forest, where that is “Wild Life” plays. You are made aware of bears, moose, wolves, bison, etc. and you are also advised not to feed them! - We don't -
The season has long since ended, but some of the parks with their campgrounds are still functioning on a sparse basis. There is no service (water, for example), but you have wonderful places to choose from, whether by the water or in the forest. You only meet people sporadically rare. The weather even invites you to go paddling again, but we realize that without the sun it is too cold. At night there have been temperatures below 0*C but we make campfires and love it, whether on the moon Lake or on the lake in Duck Mountain - The lake landscape is huge. Early in the morning, before the first coffee, we set off (with bear spray in our pockets, of course) and observe the only herd of bison in the area. We are lucky that they join us shows. Some people tell us that they come here often but have never seen any animals. Looking at it from a distance is exciting, but we are glad that moose or bison don't dare to get so close to us that they are in front of us Throw MANNI!
Freddy feels really comfortable. All he needs is enough trees to rush up, tall grass and bushes to hide. And of course his buddies, the Squirrels (similar to our squirrels, only more cunning and faster). That's how cat life is fun. In the evenings you lie down exhausted on the sofa - even the coyotes can't do anything to you.
Since, as I said, the campers are tight, we have expanded laundry washing to the public laundromat. We have found that it works easier than at the campsite. There are tons of washing machines and dryers available, so you don't have to drag the laundry around the site and Wifi and magazines are free.
While I'm writing here, Jörg is servicing MANNI and doing small repairs; Freddy is hungry and we're having fried potatoes afterwards before we ride off into the sunset for the third time.
