Stopover at Cape d'Or

Foillsichte: 30.04.2018

This morning I started my return journey to Toronto. My destination for today's stage was Fredericton. On the way there, I took a little detour to Cape d'Or near Advocate Harbour. After this trip, I also knew why it had to be a Jeep. The last five kilometers to Cape d'Or were on an unpaved road. The rain showers of the past few days had given the road their share, making it a unique rocking back and forth. But I reached the Cape without any incidents and I was the only person there. The weather was very bad, but I grabbed my rain jacket and walked down to the lighthouse. Even though I was soaking wet after this trip, I didn't regret it. Truly a unique piece of nature. On the sea, you could also see the strong current very well due to the tides, an exciting matter. Back at the car, I took a short lunch break and then continued the remaining 300 kilometers to Fredericton. Unfortunately, a flood awaited me there. Already on the highway, I could see on both sides that entire areas had turned into rivers. The river that flows through Fredericton has also overflowed its banks and many roads, including the downtown area, are closed. Luckily, my accommodation is slightly above the river. However, two access roads were already closed, so it took quite a while until I could finally check in. I hope that it doesn't get worse overnight and that the rain stops soon. Tomorrow morning, I want to continue as early as possible. My next accommodation is near Quebec.
