AO Nang- night market

Publié: 03.03.2024

open daily from 4.00-11.00 pm.

We take a tuk tuk taxi, negotiate the price beforehand and go hunting in the evening - no, not what you think - of course for something to eat.

From a culinary point of view alone, Thailand is worth a trip and the good thing about it is that you don't have to be afraid of starting your return flight overweight.😆 Because as delicious as the Thai dishes are, they are also light - and therefore perfectly adapted to the tropical climate.

Thai dishes are usually low in fat and feature fresh ingredients. The vegetables are only cooked briefly. This keeps it crunchy and rich in vitamins. Of course, chili is part of every dish, but if you don't like it that spicy, just order "mai phet" (not spicy). Garlic is also a must. There are also lemongrass and mint, tamarind, cardamom and shrimp paste, coriander, ginger and basil. There are no dishes where you need a knife. Everything is served in bite-sized pieces.

When we arrive at the market it is already dark, but life is raging here. There are countless stalls offering the most exotic dishes and everywhere the food is fresh and prepared using the simplest of ingredients. You could watch anywhere and never be bored. I immediately know what I would like to eat. At Biene it takes two rounds and back and forth through the market. Hours later we come back to where we started. 😬 Bee chooses kui tiao nam, a noodle soup with chicken, I take pad thai, glass noodles with tofu and shrimp, garlic, bean sprouts and peanuts. Both dishes are amazing and together cost 180 Bath, just over €5.

We look for seats directly in front of the stage. There is live music and it's not bad. We clap nicely and are looked at with some surprise, but the performer smiles and is enthusiastic. Now he is in his element and doesn't allow himself any more breaks.

But now it's enough and we stroll on to a tattoo studio.

After all, the masters of the needle are ubiquitous in Krabi Province. Tattoos have a long tradition here and the tourists have only boosted business.

People here view tattoos as a kind of protective shield against the adversities of life and against ghosts. T

Should a work of art on the skin make our lives a little safer, perhaps even allay our fears?

It would be worth a try. 🤔

Of course only in those parts of our body where gravity doesn't have as strong an effect.😆

So we sleep on it one more night and head home.

Would love to get a ride in a tuk tuk, but negotiating the price is difficult.

Two shady guys approach us. Probably think we're blonde and stupid. Well, it's partly true, but definitely not stupid. 700 Bath is definitely too expensive.

It doesn't take long and a tuk tuk taxi stops next to us. The Thai looks nice and is alone.

So no danger.😜
