When we arrive in Christchurch, we take an Uber to the Italian restaurant. Then we discover driving an e-scooter for ourselves. We race through a huge park and past tomorrow's festival site. The next day starts very late and the bathroom feels like it takes hours to clean. Maybe it's because we got up so late today. We're racing through the city on our scooters again and, surprisingly, we really like it here. We visit an art center, an art exhibition and go shopping. Back at the campsite we start preheating straight away. Because the festival we want to go to later is alcohol and smoke free. After lots of champagne and gin, we stop briefly at the air hockey table. After a very even fight, the games and points are tied and we are sweating. We take the Uber to the kebab shop and enjoy a classy New Year's Eve dinner. We continue to the festival grounds. It's nice here, but what's really missing is a beer in your hand. After less than an hour, we find ourselves in the Irish pub. It will be a very fun evening with far too many people. Of course we also drink well, some a little more than others and we can't avoid the Australians' schnapps either. The countdown is on a big TV and very unreal, but suddenly the new year is here. The bouncer lets out a champagne shower a little late... such a waste. The pub gets pretty empty around 2 and we take the Uber back to the campsite. In the morning there is a rich hangover breakfast, dinner for one in bed and a cute little visitor. We leave the campsite well after the official checkout time.
