Unplanned day at sea

January 15, 2024 Falkland Islands

Serious disappointment. We had received our numbered tender cards the evening before so that the transfer to the island with the dinghies would be civilized. We had arrived on schedule and were in front of Port Stanley. Then the captain's announcement came: Due to strong winds and heavy seas, the tender could not take place for safety reasons. So we couldn't leave the ship and only saw the islands from a distance. We drove on earlier than planned.

The cinema showed the Disney film "Jungle Cruise", a kind of female Indiana Jones with visual effects reminiscent of "Pirates of the Caribbean". Funny and entertaining.

In the evening I organized a small wine tasting with a fellow traveler. In one of the bars we tasted a Lambrusco Amabile that I had picked up on a previous shore leave. Yummy!

Unfortunately, my reduced food intake became noticeable afterwards; I felt dizzy and unsteady on my feet. Another passenger kindly walked me to my cabin. I will take a fasting day to allow my digestion to recover.
