11.10.2018 Boston

Publié: 13.10.2018

Today another highlight is waiting for us: the founding city of the USA and therefore also the cradle of the USA, Boston. This morning it was a bit unpredictable how the entry into the USA was organized. We knew that we were assigned to group A, the first group, and that we should be ready from 6.30 a.m. Luckily, we both have no problem getting up early. By the way, Mom experienced live on our balcony that the arrival at the pier was delayed. So we only arrived just after 6.30 a.m., and our immigration was only slightly delayed. Before 8 a.m. we had the coveted stamp in our passports. And so it was clear, let's go for breakfast and then to the city. The cruise port is a bit outside, but with the bus and subway we quickly arrived at the scene. First, we visited one of the most exclusive residential areas in the USA, Beacon Hill, and were enchanted by the beauty of the brick houses. From Boston Common City Park, a 5 km long Freedom Trail leads along the most important sights and along the way to independence. So we got a good impression of Boston and made our way back to the ship. As soon as we were back at the bus station with the subway, it started to rain. That was probably lucky.

In the evening, the captain talked to us about an extraordinary change of plans. Tomorrow we were supposed to dock in Newport and go ashore with tender boats. However, our plans were thwarted by Hurricane Michael, which had changed its course a bit, and disembarking with the tender boats would be too dangerous. Now we are heading directly to New York. The positive thing is that tomorrow afternoon, instead of the day after tomorrow in the morning, we will arrive in New York in daylight.
