On the Prince's Route

Publié: 12.09.2022

Monday 2022/09/12 Prince's Route 46 km

Because yesterday was so nice, we set off today for the second round tour around Kasterlee, called the 'Prince's Route'. Yesterday there were easy 26 kilometers, but today there are 46 to master. Mind you, we are still riding normal bikes without electric assistance, like 'Oldstyle' type.

The Kempen, to which the Kasterlee area belongs, is known as a hiking and cycling paradise. Certainly here in Belgium, maybe also in nearby Holland, but probably not in Switzerland. The landscape is magnificent, the bike paths are well maintained and excellently signposted. However, it is important to know that villages, if they exist at all, are bypassed extensively. It is therefore advisable to take enough liquid and a small snack with you, because there are practically no places to stop along the way. But that does not diminish the overall enjoyment experience!

What catches the eye along the way is how much value the Belgians place on beautiful living. Whether in traditional construction or as trendy new buildings: they all come across as very well maintained, mostly as spacious single-family houses with ample grounds and beautiful front yards.
