Hello everyone,
I'm back. The past few days were not very eventful, but I saw some beautiful landscapes. Yesterday (17.09) I left Franz Josef Glacier and headed towards the coast and Haast. Unfortunately, it was raining heavily, so the Fox Glacier was closed and walking around was not possible without getting completely soaked. So I quickly drove along the Coastal Highway to Haast. When the weather allowed, I stopped at the viewpoints and stretched my legs a bit. When I arrived in Haast, the sun briefly peeked through the clouds. I took this opportunity to take a detour to the beach. I was very happy to be accommodated in a twin room instead of the booked mixed dormitory in my accommodation. I spent the afternoon and evening in the lounge in front of the fireplace, chatting with other guests and booking my next accommodations.
This morning, I headed towards Wanaka. I crossed the scenic Haast Pass for that. Luckily, the weather was better today, so I could walk to the waterfalls along the route. Just before Wanaka, the path led along two impressive lakes. Unfortunately, it started raining again during that time. But I still managed to take a nice walk along the lake and through the small town of Wanaka. Of course, my path also led me past the tree. There's a tree in the lake that is a very popular photo spot.
That's it for now. See you soon,
Your Jessi
