After yet another unexpected breakfast outdoors, today was planned to be the last hike of the vacation. The morning idyll was unfortunately repeatedly interrupted by 2 Eurofighters circling above our heads all day.
After a short drive, we started our ascent to the first monastery in the Lousios Gorge.
In the Prodromou Monastery, which seems to cling impressively to the vertical cliffs, we were warmly welcomed by a monk. However, we had to turn around briefly - women are not allowed to enter the monastery in pants. So one of the provided skirts was quickly put on.
After a short break, a sweet treat, and a sip of water, the hike first led us downhill into the valley before we headed to the Monastery of the Philosophers. Here, we first climbed the ruins of the original but now abandoned monastery before reaching the present-day monastery just a few minutes later.
On the way back, we were accompanied by a family of cats for quite some time. The smallest and most daring even followed us back to the Prodromou Monastery.
In the afternoon, we took a detour to Dimitsana and visited the open-air museum of water power.
