Just two days later, our next excursion with Aledia Tours took place. We had already booked this one from Germany. A little bit of island life is also allowed, so we decided to go on an excursion to Isla Holbox (pronounced: Holbosch), which means 'black hole'. Doesn't sound so nice at first - but it was!
We were picked up very early again, around 6 am. Because it took about 1.5 hours to get to the port in Chiquila, where our excursion was about to begin. The group was small again, only 12 people. The trip was wonderfully bridged with some useful information about Mexico, so we never got bored.
We arrived at the harbor around 8 am and took off from there with a small motorboat.
Cenote Yum Balam
Our first stop was a cenote hidden in the jungle. There we could cool off a bit in the very refreshing water. The surroundings could be well overviewed from an observation tower. A quick group photo on the dock and the journey continued.
Bird Island
The next stop is Bird Island. There we could - who would have thought - observe many birds and feed seagulls.
Dolphins
After the seagulls were well fed and I had lost my sunglasses in the sea, we went back to the boat. On the way, we saw dolphins!
Small Island
Afterwards, we stopped at another small island. From there, we could get a good overview of the area. There were also flamingos to admire :)
After enjoying the beautiful nature, the tour continued towards the main island...see Part 2.
